Dermal Filler
What is Dermal Filler?
Dermal filler consists of hyaluronic acid which is a naturally accruing substance in the body which attracts water and thus adding volume and more hydration in the area of injection. Laura generally uses Galderma Restylane® or Intraline®.
Results are instant however the final result should be judged after any swelling has gone down completely, this can take a few days to a few weeks and results vary from person to person.
Treatments Available
Dermal filler can be used to enhance Lips and soften the lines around the Mouth and Nose. These are the vertical lines from nose to mouth or from the mouth to the jaw. The cost will depend on each individual and technique required and will be discussed at consultation. No more than 1ml will be added to lips at one time to ensure results are natural and less likely to cause harm. Laura likes to provide follow up in 2 weeks’ time to review outcomes.
More advanced treatments that Laura provides are Cheek enhancement, Temples, Tear Trough and lip/smokers lines.
What to Expect
Straight after treatment as with any injection you may experience bruising, swelling, redness, pain, tenderness and/or itching. Swelling and/or bruising can sometimes take a few weeks to settle. It is advisable to avoid alcohol or non-steroidal anti inflammatory medication (eg Ibuprofen) for 24 hours prior to treatment to reduce risk of bruising. If you suffer from cold sores please let Laura know so we can aim to prevent them from reoccurring after treatment.
Aftercare
Avoid touching the area 6 hours
Do not apply makeup for 12 hours
For the first 24 hours avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol
Until the inflammation has disappeared avoid extremes of temperature or the sun. So for example do not sunbathe or use a sauna, sun bed or steam bath
If you have had or are planning on having a chemical peel or laser treatment you will need to leave 6 weeks before or after having dermal fillers as it can cause inflammation.
How long does dermal filler last?
Dermal filler can lasts between 6 months and a year depending on treatment area.
